Stillman Women Reclaim Rivalry Trophy With 62-56 Win Over Talladega

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Stillman women's basketball reclaimed the Hardwood Meets History Classic rivalry trophy Saturday, closing strong in the fourth quarter for a 62-56 win over Talladega College.

Before tipoff, Stillman held a brief pregame celebration for senior guard Jaida Minter, presenting her with the game ball commemorating 1,000 career points. Minter then led the Tigers with 15 points as Stillman rallied past the Tornadoes in the final 10 minutes.

Talladega carried a one-point edge into the fourth after outscoring Stillman 23-18 in the third quarter, but the Tigers responded with their best period of the day, using a 20-13 advantage in the fourth to secure the rivalry win.

Stillman trailed 12-7 after the opening quarter, then flipped the game in the second. The Tigers held Talladega to eight points in the period and took a 24-20 lead into halftime after a 17-8 quarter.

Jordan Harris posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Mya Jones added 13 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Tanyah Lockhart chipped in seven points and six rebounds, and Carlisha Enge provided five points off the bench.

Stillman shot 46.3 percent from the field and finished with 38 rebounds.

Talladega was led by Teanna Watts with 18 points. Ceara Myers added 12 points, and Kameron Jones finished with 10 points.

With the win, Stillman improved to 10-7 overall and 7-2 in conference play.

Up next: Stillman returns to Birthright Alumni Hall on Thursday, Jan. 29, to host the Fisk University Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m.
