TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Stillman men's basketball won back the trophy in the Hardwood Meets History Classic on Saturday, knocking off Talladega College 57-51 at Birthright Alumni Hall.
The Tigers improved to 11-9 overall and 7-2 in HBCU Athletic Conference play, while the Tornadoes fell to 10-7 overall and 7-3 in league action. Stillman carried a 29-27 lead into halftime and held Talladega to 24 points in the second half to secure the rivalry win.
Dasean Sellers powered the Tigers with 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting, adding seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Josh Price finished with 10 points and three assists, and Jordan Fordyce provided a lift off the bench with nine points and five rebounds. Brandon Howard grabbed a team-high nine rebounds to help Stillman close out the win.
Stillman shot 41.1% from the field (23-of-56) and went 10-of-15 at the free throw line. The Tigers limited Talladega to 33.9% shooting (20-of-59) and 4-of-16 from three, coming up with eight steals and three blocks on the defensive end.
Shaun Walker led Talladega with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Arthur Williams added 12 points and Tre Simmons scored nine for the Tornadoes.
