Stillman pulls away from Oakwood, 79-65

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Behind a strong first half and efficient offense, Stillman men's basketball pulled away for a 79-65 win over Oakwood University on Tuesday night, January 20.

Senior forward Brandon Howard led the Tigers with 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting, knocking down three 3-pointers and adding eight rebounds in 40 minutes. Guard Josh Price followed with 18 points, five assists and three steals as Stillman improved to 9-9 overall and 6-1 in conference play.

Stillman took control early, building a 37-24 advantage at the break and continuing to apply pressure in the second half. The Tigers turned 16 Oakwood turnovers into 22 points and owned the paint, outscoring the Ambassadors 50-42 inside. Stillman also pushed its lead to as many as 22 points after intermission.

Keaundre Cooper provided a spark on both ends, finishing with eight points on a perfect 4-for-4 from the field while piling up four steals and two blocks to fuel Stillman's defensive activity. The Tigers finished with nine steals and five blocks as a team, limiting Oakwood's perimeter efficiency while converting timely stops into scoring chances.

Oakwood was paced by Jordan Bell and Tahj Evans with 11 points apiece, while Jason Griffin added 10.
