TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Stillman men's basketball pushed Paine to the limit Wednesday night, but the Tigers came up just short in a 101-95 triple-overtime loss.
Senior Dasean Sellers provided a major spark off the bench, pouring in 28 points on 12-of-17 shooting while adding 12 rebounds in 46 minutes. D'Angelo Foster was efficient around the rim, finishing with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting and 11 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass. Joshua Price added 18 points and seven assists as Stillman placed four players in double figures.
The Tigers led by as many as 10 in the second half and fought through a back-and-forth finish to send the game to overtime tied at 70. Stillman matched Paine punch-for-punch across the first two extra periods, including a late momentum play in the first overtime when Sellers threw down a dunk in the closing seconds to force another period.
Stillman's effort on the glass kept the Tigers in position all night, winning the rebounding battle 59-45 and generating 25 second-chance points behind consistent work on the offensive boards. Stillman also attacked the paint effectively, scoring 54 points inside and getting a lift from the bench with 37 points from the reserves.
Paine ultimately created separation in the third overtime, outscoring Stillman 14-8 in the final five minutes. Turnovers proved costly down the stretch, as Paine converted 22 Stillman turnovers into 28 points in a game that featured eight ties and 12 lead changes.
