TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Stillman College volleyball team stepped out of Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference action to host the Faulkner University Eagles Tuesday night in Birthright Alumni Hall. However, it was the Eagles who came away with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 26-24) win over the Tigers. 

Raine Patterson posted a 10-kill effort with a .474 attack percentage and added three blocks. Domineshia Jones posted 12 assists. Zoey Sales added 12 digs, while Paige Eason led the front row with three blocks. 

Faulkner led throughout the opening set, aside from when a kill from Raine Patterson, followed by a service ace from Zoey Sales, tied the first set 7-7. However, the Eagles claimed the next point and pushed ahead by as much as 20-14 before settling on a 25-19 win in the opener. 

Both teams battled hard deep into the third set. Stillman held a 24-23 lead with a chance to force a fourth game, but Faulkner rallied with three straight points to win the set and claim the matchup in straight sets. 

Stillman College returns to action at home on Thursday, September 25, at 6 p.m. against HBCUAC opponent Oakwood University.
