Baseball Grabs Decisive 9-1 Victory over Dega

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Stillman College baseball team trailed early but rallied in a big way to take a 9-1 victory over the Talladega College Tornadoes Wednesday afternoon in HBCU Athletic Conference action. The win granted the Tigers the season series over Talladega.

John Roland Jr. pitched a terrific game, throwing all nine innings with six strikeouts and five hits allowed.

The Tornadoes scored first when a hit by Issac Guzman and an error in left field helped Jahir Cruz score.

Stillman found the scoreboard in the fourth inning with Thedrick Harris scoring on a passed ball to tie the game 1-1.

Davion Wilkins put the Tigers on top in the sixth with a double to third base to help Troy Davis score. Mehka Hicks broke the game open with a single to left center field for two RBIs as Wilkins and Micheal Moses scored to move the score to 4-1.

The Tigers added to the lead in the seventh when Samuel Fleming earned an RBI after a groundout allowed Kobe Lewis to score. Davis followed with a double to left-center to drive in Harris, putting Stillman further ahead at 6-1.

In the eighth, Lewis hit an RBI single to left-center where Gavin Rehorn scored. Fleming capped the scoring and pushed the lead to 9-1 with a single to centerfield as Lewis and Kelly scored to reach the final tally.

Kobe Lewis swung a hot bat today with a 4-for-5 effort at the plated with two doubles. Fleming finished 1-for-5 but posted three RBIs. Sieas Elliot, Davis, and Wilkins all posted a double. Kelly and Hicks registered steals in the win.
