Joining Hoskins in the class is Cayla Obillo, who currently serves as an assistant coach for Talladega College women's basketball.
"I am so excited to add Coach Cayla and Coach Montego for 2024-25. This Program has served a number of current head and assistant basketball coaches, coaches turned athletic administrators, and leaders in the sports and athletics industry for many years," said Achieving Coaching Excellence® CEO Kennedy D. Wells. "These two aspiring basketball coaches embody the spirit of "A-C-E," and we are grateful for the opportunity to engage them as leaders and contribute to their continued development."
Achieving Coaching Excellence® dates back to 1994 when it was forged for the benefit of 25 Black football coaches who convened at Stanford University for a professional development curriculum designed to advance their coaching careers. In 2002, the BCA with grant funding from the NCAA adopted the model for the advancement of female ethnic minority collegiate women's basketball coaches. Male/men's collegiate basketball coaches were added in 2007. Now, Achieving Coaching Excellence® will remain focused as an affinity group of leaders in the coaching profession and professional development programming. Achieving Coaching Excellence ® will chart a course for leadership, development, and community. A rallying point for the coaching profession and for advocacy.
As part of the Program, Obillo and Hoskins will have the opportunity to experience mentoring and professional development opportunities that demonstrate the fundamentals associated with engaging them as leaders. They will also have the opportunity to connect with the community of Achieving Coaching Excellence® alumni around the country.
