NEW ORLEANS – After weeks of dominant pitching,
Griff Minor of the Stillman College baseball team was named the HBCU Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for February 24-March 2.
Minor sat down nine batters in a complete-game win over Philander Smith last weekend. This was his third consecutive outing with only one earned run allowed.
The senior from Helena, Alabama, pitched three complete games in a row, including last week's effort. Against Wiley University on February 21, Minor struck out six batters and allowed only two hits. In the matchup before, on February 13 against Voorhees University, he posted six strikeouts and scattered seven hits.
In 30 innings of work during the season, Minor posted a 3-1 record with 3.00 ERA and 28 strikeouts while limiting opponents to a .213 batting average.
Stillman College returns to work on March 7 with a doubleheader at home against Wilberforce (Ohio) University. The first pitch is set for a noon start at Tiger Field.
