TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Stillman College baseball team hosted the University of Mobile Rams Tuesday afternoon, and the Rams won both games of the day's doubleheader 19-6 and 18-10 at Tiger Field.
Game One - Mobile 19, Stillman 6
Mobile picked up eight straight runs in the early innings, capped by an RBI single from Colton Wood.
The Tigers scored in the third with an RBI single from
Kobe Lewis to knock in
Devin Kelly. Then in the fourth,
Troy Davis doubled to center field to bring in
Isaiah Hoskins.
Gavin Rehorn followed with a single to knock in Davis to cut the lead to 8-3.
The Rams then posted 11 runs during the fifth through seventh innings to take a 19-3 lead.
Samuel Fleming hit a single through the left side in the bottom of the seventh as
Thedrick Harris and Lewis touched home.
Sieas Elliot got a sacrifice fly for Fleming to score and cap the scoring at 19-6 in the game.
Fleming notched the most RBIs with two on 1-for-4 hitting. Davis posted a 3-for-4 effort with a double.
Jaxon Pearson (0-2) pitched three innings in the start.
Daniel Salter went 2.1 innings and logged two strikeouts.
Caleb Vallejo threw the final 1.2 innings with a pair of strikeouts.
Game Two - Mobile 18, Stillman 10
UM once again raced to an 8-0 lead after Alex McWhorter hit a two-RBI single to right field to cap the run in the third.
Stillman responded in the third when
Troy Easterling singled to bring in
Davion Wilkins.
Then in the fourth, Mehka Hicks earned a sacrifice fly with
John Roland Jr. coming home.
Easterling got a sacrifice fly as Kameron Belser scored to start the fifth. Roland used a hit to the shortstop to drive in Wilkins, and
Robert Gage hit a single to center field to knock in Jeff Wilson to move the score to 8-5.
Mobile used a monster sixth with seven total runs to go up 15-5.
The Tigers turned in an impressive sixth inning, and Easterling got another RBI as Rehorn scored to start the action. Belser later scored on a wild pitch. Then with the bases loaded, Gage was hit-by-pitch with Wilkins trotting in from third. Hicks capped the inning with a hit to the shortstop to bring in
Michael Moses and close the gap to 15-9.
Unfortunately, the Rams used the seventh inning to stretch the lead to 18-9 after Jaron Harris got an RBI to left center.
Easterling knocked in the final run of the day with a double to left field in the seventh to bring in Belser and move the score to the final 18-10 tally.
With four RBIs and a double, Easterling led the way at the plate with a 3-for-4 effort. Rehorn stole a base in the contest.
Xavier Reyna (0-2) went 1.2 innings in his start with a strikeout.
Cleveland Puckett threw 2.1 innings with a pair of strikeouts.
Caleb Schreiner worked two innings and collected two strikeouts, while Rehorn pitched the final inning to end the contest.
Stillman College returns to action on March 22 with a road trip to face Southern University at New Orleans for an HBCU Athletic Conference doubleheader.
