Softball Splits Second DH with Blue Mountain Christian

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Similar to the day before, the Stillman College softball team split another doubleheader with the Blue Mountain Christian University Lady Toppers Saturday evening. The Lady Tigers won the first contest 4-1 but dropped the second matchup 4-3.

Game 1 - Stillman 4, Blue Mountain 1

Madison Bubel knocked in the first run of the day with an RBI single through the left side to bring in Lauren Haskins in the top of the first inning. 
 
In the third, Lily Stone garnered an RBI single up the middle as Haskins scored again to put the team up 2-0

Then in the fourth, Makyleigh Hollinger scored on a passed ball to move the margin to 3-0.

Carolyn Carter wrapped scoring for the Tigers in game one with a single to center field to bring in Stone and move the score to 4-0.

Mallory Jo Mitchell doubled to left for an RBI to bring in Maryn Macri, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Tigers secured a 4-1 win to start the day. 

Haskins finished the first game 3-for-4 with two doubles, two stolen bases, and two runs scored. Stone and Carter but went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Avary Lumpkin pitched a complete game with a pair of strikeouts. She allowed four walks, three hits and an earned run. 

Game 2 - Blue Mountain 4, Stillman 3

Lumpkin singled to center field for an RBI to bring in Haskins. Karli Davidson notched an RBI with a single through the left side to bring in Lumpkin. 

BMCU responded with three straight runs capped by a two-run homer from Bre Ramsey in the second inning to move the score to 3-2. 

Carter responded with a home run of her own to left field to tie the game at 3-3 in the third. 

Both offenses went quiet until the bottom of the sixth when Lillie Johnson registered an RBI as Skylar came around to score to give the Lady Toppers the 4-3 lead which held as the final.

Haskins, Stone and Lumpkin all went 2-for-4 in the contest with Haskins also grabbing two more steals. Carter blasted her first home run of the season with a 1-for-3 effort at the plate. 

Jasmine Wade threw five innings and allowed five hits, three hits and a pair of walks. Faith Byram received the pitching decision in her inning of work with two hits and an earned run allowed. 

Stillman College returns to action Monday with the first home doubleheader of the year against the University of Tennessee Southern. The first pitch in the Stillman Softball Complex is set for 1 p.m.
