Men’s Basketball Win Streak Snapped with Loss to Thomas

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Stillman College men's basketball team saw a five-game winning streak come to a conclusion following a 79-67 loss to the Thomas University Night Hawks Monday night in Birthright Alumni Hall.

Following the loss, Stillman sits at 6-6 on the season, while Thomas improves to 3-8 overall. 

Rapid Recap:

The Tigers used the first four minutes of the contest to push to a 12-2 advantage following a shot from Dasean Sellers with 16:27 on the clock. By the 13:37 mark, the Night Hawks close the gap to 13-9 after a shot from Tyson Anderson. 

With 5:59 to go, Stillman pushed the lead back to nine at 30-21 when Sellers hit another jumper. However, Thomas battled back to be down one point with 2:06 on the clock with an Anderson three-pointer, making the score 34-33. Stillman's lead pushed back up to five, but a three from Ryan Williams moved the Tigers' lead to just 38-36 at the break. 

The second half was all TU. After the team fell behind 40-36, the Night Hawks became more active on both sides of the ball, forcing turnovers and hitting shots. By the 13:33 mark, Thomas was up 58-49 after a three from Jonathan Goldson. 

The Night Hawks led by as much as 13 points with 6:39 on the clock before settling on a 12-point, 79-67 road win over the Tigers. 

Notes and Numbers:

-Three Tigers finished in double-figures. Dasean Sellers led the way with 22 points, eight rebounds and four steals. 
-Joshua Price posted 17 points, and Jordan Fordyce had 16 points and seven rebounds. 
-Brandon Howard led the way on the boards with nine rebounds and added five points. 
-Stillman could not get threes to fall. Stillman finished 16.7 percent (3-of-18) from three in the game.
