TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Stillman College men's basketball team started hot and did not slow down as the Tigers never trailed against the Rust College Bearcats in an 81-60 victory Saturday evening in Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference action in Birthright Alumni Hall.
Stillman improved to 6-5 on the season and 4-0 in the HBCUAC, while Rust fell to 3-10 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

Stillman opened with a 10-0 run before Rust scored a pair of buckets to move the score to 12-4. The Tigers then pushed to a 15-point, 25-10 lead following a layup from
Adrelin Robinson with 12:04 in the first half.
The damage continued throughout the period, with
Dasean Sellers connecting on a layup at the 3:34 point on the clock to push the lead to 18 points at 41-23. Stillman led by 18 twice, with the final margin coming from a layup by
Jordan Fordyce with 22 seconds left, which moved the score to 47-29, a lead that held as the halftime score.
Stillman continued to keep up the pressure as the lead ballooned to 28 points after a layup from Sellers with 6:21 to go. Rust finally found some relief and reduced the deficit to 18 points following free throws from Jahsan Upshaw with 3:01 on the clock.
The Tigers' lead grew to 22 points once more following a free throw from Allister Dixon with 1:34 on the clock to move the score to 80-58 before settling on an 81-60 victory at home.
Notes and Numbers:
-Five Tigers finished with double-figure points, led by 19 from
Brandon Howard.
Jordan Fordyce scored 18 points,
Dasean Sellers had 12, and
Joshua Price and
Adrelin Robinson both had 10 points.
-Stillman finished the game 52.5 percent (31-of-59) from the floor.
-The Tigers outscored Rust 40-36 in the paint, 11-7 in points off turnovers, and 11-6 in second-chance points.
