TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Stillman College men's basketball team played its first contest of the 2025-26 home schedule against the Paine College Lions. Despite the best efforts from the visitors, Stillman held on to capture a 67-64 victory Saturday evening in Birthright Alumni Hall.
Stillman earns the first win of the season to improve to 1-2, while Paine fell to 1-1.

Stillman's first big lead came with 13:04 on the clock after a layup from
Taveon Goode pushed the score to 17-11. Minutes later, Paine took the lead with 9:42 on the clock when Kelvin Johnson knocked down a free throw to go up 18-17.
The Tigers took a seven-point lead with 5:49 on the clock after a free throw from
Adrelin Robinson moved the score to 25-17. Paine responded in a big way and found a way to go up five points with 25 seconds left, but
Dasean Sellers used a free throw and layup to move the score to 33-31 in favor of the Lions at the half.
Stilman used an elongated run in the second half to go up 14 points after a bucket from
Brandon Howard moved the tally to 56-42 with 6:33 on the clock.
However, Paine used the final few minutes to cut the lead all the way down to one point at 60-59 following a layup from Kelvin Johnson with 1:28 on the clock. The Tigers battled to get the lead back up to four after free throws from Howard with 12 seconds to go. Just four seconds later, Jocqua Keaton splashed a three to cut the lead to one once more.
Jordan Fordyce hit two free throws to push the tally to 67-64 with seven seconds left, and a last-second shot from Kole Taylor fell short as Stillman preserved the win.

Brandon Howard finished as the leading scorer for the Tigers with 19 points and added five rebounds.
Joshua Price posted 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and a steal.
-Allister Dixon tied for the lead on the boards with six rebounds.
-Stillman finished with 41 rebounds compared to 31 for the Lions.
