TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Stillman College men's basketball team turned up the heat in the second half and controlled the Wilberforce University Bulldogs on the way to a 60-47 victory Saturday evening in Historically Black Colleges and University Athletic Conference action in Birthright Alumni Hall.
Stillman improved to 3-5 overall and 1-0 in the HBCUAC, while Wilberforce fell to 2-5 on the season and 0-2 in the conference.

The first big lead belonged to the Stillman, who took a 12-7 lead after a free throw from Desean Sellers at the 13:53 mark. However, by the 10:06 mark, a layup by Matthew Hardwick capped a 6-0 run to give WU a brief 13-12 lead.
After free throws from
Adrelin Robinson at the 8:14 mark moved the score to 18-16 in favor of the Tigers, the Bulldogs jumped out to as much as a five-point lead after a layup from Daiquan Coach with 3:06 put the team up 23-18. Wilberforce maintained the lead until half, but a tip-in from
Jordan Fordyce cut the score to 25-23 as time expired.
The second half was all Stillman. By the time the clock reached 12:40, the Tigers had pushed to a 12-point lead after a three-pointer from
Adrelin Robinson made the tally 44-32. Over the next four minutes, the lead was whittled down to 46-41 with 8:54 on the clock.
However, that was as close as Wilberforce would get. Stillman stretched the advantage to 60-45 with 1:32 on the clock following free throws from Robinson before settling on a 6047 victory.
Notes and Numbers:
-Stillman kept Wilberforce off the free-throw line the entire second half. The Bulldogs finished with just three shots from the stripe, compared to the 13 the Tigers took.
-Four Tigers finished in double figures. Desean Sellers led the way with a double-double after he posted 15 points and 10 rebounds along with three blocks and an assist.
Joshua Price had 14 points,
Adrelin Robinson scored 11, and
Jordan Fordyce posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Stillman College will have a week off before returning to action on Dec. 4 with a road trip to Denmark, South Carolina, to face Voorhees University in HBCUAC competition.
