Men’s Basketball Grabs Road Win over Thomas

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Stillman College men's basketball team ended a three-game losing skid with a 75-67 victory over the Thomas University Nighthawks Thursday night in TU Gymnasium. 

Stillman improved to 2-5 on the season, while Thomas fell to 2-6 overall. 

Rapid Recap:

Stillman pushed to an 11-6 lead early when Josh Proce hit a layup at the 15:19 mark. However, after the midway point in the first half, TU tied the game 21-21 following a three-pointer by Armani Thomas.

Both teams traded the lead until the 1:33 mark when Adrelin Robinson hit a jumper to give the Tigers a 32-31 advantage. Stillman went on to take a 37-33 lead to the locker room following a layup from Brandon Howard at the five-second mark. 

The Tigers pushed ahead by seven points on two occasions early in the second half, with the last coming off a dunk by Jordan Fordyce with 16:53 to move the tally to 47-40. However, Thomas stormed back to take a one-point lead when a Jamari Favors layup gave the Nighthawks a 50-49 advantage. 

TU went ahead by four points with 6:11 left in the game with a lead of 63-59 following a jumper from Jonathan Goldson. A three-pointer by Joshua Price and a layup by Fordyce with 2:24 to go gave the Tigers a one-point lead, and Stillman never relinquished the advantage again. Free throws from Robinson clinched an eight-point, 75-67 win over the Nighthawks. 

Notes and Numbers:

-Jordan Fordyce finished as the highest scorer for the second time this season with 22 points, along with four rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks. 
-Josh Price posted 19 points, and Adrelin Robinson matched it with 19 points as well. 
-Brandon Howard led on the boards with 12 rebounds and added seven points. 
-Stillman shot an impressive 52.1 percent (25-of-48) from the field and 79.2 percent (19-of-24) from the free throw line.
