NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Stillman College volleyball team opened the first of back-to-back weekend matches in the Historical Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference with a loss to the Fisk University Bulldogs in straight sets (25-18, 25-16, 25-18) Friday night in Henderson Johnson Arena.

Following the loss, Stillman fell to 2-13 overall and 1-5 in the HBCUAC, while the surging Bulldogs improved to 21-5 on the season and 7-0 in conference play.

Paige Eason and Ava Cameron led the Tigers with seven kills each. Raven Marks passed 11 assists, and Kelis Conley finished just behind her with 10 assists. Zoey Sales led the back row with 14 digs, while Brianna Moore and Cameron handled the net with two blocks apiece.

Stillman led 17-13 in the opening set after an attack error from Fisk led to a block by Cameron. After the teams traded points to move the score to 18-14, the Bulldogs put together an 11-0 run to claim the first game.

The second set started evenly after a kill by Eason brought the Tigers within 7-6; however, Fisk used another run to go up 14-7 before a kill from Cameron moved the tally to 14-8. Both teams traded points from there, but the Tigers ran out of time as the Bulldogs took the set 25-16.

Fisk controlled the third set and went up 21-10 before Stillman scored seven of the next eight points in the match to close the gap pto 22-17. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs scored three of the next four points to claim the set 25-18 and win the match 3-0.
