Nicholas Finch Named Stillman College's Interim Director of Sports Information

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Stillman College Athletics has appointed Nicholas J. Finch as interim director of sports information. Finch previously served as the athletic department's coordinator for compliance, game day operations and facilities since September 2022.

"I am pleased that Mr. Finch has accepted the role of interim director of sports information. I look forward to Mr. Finch using his skills and talents to help continue the work of moving our athletics media platform to being one of the top college sports media platforms in the NAIA.," said Director of Athletics Terrance Whittle.

Finch replaces former assistant athletics director for media relations Chris Megginson, who was appointed the Stillman College director of strategic communications in October 2024. Megginson served as Stillman's athletic communications contact since November 2017 and joined the college full-time in February 2022.

"I am excited for this opportunity to continue to serve my mother's alma mater and continue to grow Stillman College's athletics footprint across the nation," Finch said. "I am thankful for AD Terrance Whittle and Assistant AD Ashley Curry putting their faith in me for this role. I am confident my experience in my craft can carry athletics communications forward in a positive direction."

A native of Toddtown, Alabama in Clarke County, Finch is a 2013 graduate of the University of West Alabama, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in integrated marketing communications. He began his career as sports editor for The Choctaw Sun-Advocate in 2013, where he developed the newspaper's free video news stream, Sun TV. He then moved on to The Demopolis Times and Blackbelt Gazette from 2015-2017 covering sports and community news. He was a four-time Alabama Press Association Better Newspaper Competition first-place winner across four categories in three years: video advertising (2014), spot news (2016), best layout (2016), and sports page (2017).

Finch returned to his alma mater in 2017 as assistant sports information director until 2021. During his time covering the Tigers, Finch was a primary contact for men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's track and field, men's and women's golf, women's volleyball and softball.

With more than a decade of experience in athletics communications, he has also served as an independent contractor in athletic communications since 2013, providing services to nearly a dozen institutions or organizations, including multiple HBCUs. He served as the official scorer for two NCAA Division II conference baseball championships, one NCAA Division II conference softball championship, the 2015 NCAA Division II Baseball South Regional, the 2022 NJCAA Division II Softball National Championships and the 2024 NJCAA DI Softball National Championships. Finch also provided play-by-play multiple years at the Southern States Athletic Conference Softball Championships.

Finch is also co-host of "True Comedy Podcast" since 2019, which was recently ranked the No. 2 comedy podcast in Alabama by FeedSpot behind the Steve & DC Morning Show in Tuscaloosa. Outside of his media duties, Finch serves on the board of the Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation and is a recruiter for Delta Chi Fraternity.

He and his wife, Whitney, reside in Tuscaloosa.
