LAUREL, Miss. - Stillman College baseball split its final non-conference doubleheader Tuesday, bouncing back from a 5-1 loss to win the second game at Southeastern Baptist College, 15-4.
In the first game,
Griff Minor doubled to drive in
Kobe Lewis for a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning, but Southeastern Baptist responded with a four-run bottom half of the inning. The Chargers added another run in the sixth inning.Â
Lewis and
Samuel Fleming each hit 2-for-3 in the game, while Minor,
Thomas Stovall and
Dylan Speakman had one hit apiece.
Mason Mergenthal (1-1) recorded the loss.Â
Speakman (3-6) took the mound in the second game, pitching six innings for his third victory of the season. The Tigers provided plenty of run support with a six-run first inning in the 15-4 win.Â
Fleming hit 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored to finish with five hits on the day, while
Isaiah Hoskins was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI.
Sieas Elliot and
Tre'en Dorsett each had two hits and two RBI, with Dorsett scoring three times.Â
Fleming and Minor drove in the first runs of the game, while Hoskins added a two-run single to give Stillman an early 4-0 lead.
Josh Wilson and
Matt Rivers followed with back-to-back RBI singles to round out the six-run first inning. Hoskins singled to start the third inning and spark four more runs. He scored on a Dorsett single, while Fleming followed two batters later with a three-run double to center field.Â
Southeastern Baptist pushed across two runs in the bottom of the third inning, but Stillman gained two more runs in the fourth on heads up base running by Hoskins and Dorsett.
Hoskins added an RBI double in the fifth inning, and Eliott had a two-run double in the seventh to cap Stillman's offense.Â
Stillman (14-29) will close out the 2024 regular season this weekend at the University of Mobile. Â
