MOBILE, Ala. - The final Southern States Athletic Conference baseball series of the season began Thursday with Stillman College falling in seven innings to the University of Mobile, 12-2, at Jacob's Field.
Stillman looked to fight back from a 7-0 deficit through three innings. After stranding a pair of runs early in the game, Tigers received a spark in the top of the fifth inning when
Griff Minor delivered a pinch-hit double to right center. He later scored on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly by
Dylan Speakman. The Tigers loaded the bases again before Mobile pitched out of the jam.
The Rams answered with a five-run bottom of the fifth to lead 12-1. Stillman produced a second run, 12-2, on a wild pitch in the sixth inning that scored
Samuel Fleming. The Tigers once again worked the bases full but left three stranded. Stillman was retired in order in the seventh to end the game.
Six different Tigers each had one hit for Stillman:
Devin Kelly,
Troy Davis,
Sieas Elliot,
Kobe Lewis,
Isaiah Hoskins, and Minor.
Raymond Clark started on the mound, allowing seven runs, four were earned.
Hayes Brown allowed five runs, but only one was earned, in the fifth inning.
Isidro Rosario also pitched.
Stillman (14-30) will close the 2024 regular season on Friday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
