TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The final Southern States Athletic Conference meeting between Stillman College and Faulkner University belonged to the Eagles Saturday, as Stillman dropped game three of the conference-opening series, 21-5.
Samuel Fleming,
Troy Davis and
Cole Odom had the only hits for Stillman.
Trailing 4-0, Stillman got on the board with a Davis RBI single in the bottom of the second inning.
Cole Odom later reached on an error that allowed an unearned run.
Devin Kelly also pushed a run across with an RBI ground out. It was 4-3 Faulkner after two innings.
Faulkner stretched its lead to 8-3 in the third, and Stillman once again responded. a wild pitch plated the first run, before Odom singled in
Griff Minor to pull back within three runs, 8-5. However, a Faulkner eight-run fourth put the game out of reach, along with five runs in the top of the fifth.
Raymon Vaughn was charged with 11 runs, eight earned, through his three innings of work.
Cody Clark and
Deuntre Dunklin also pitched for the Tigers.
Faulkner's Juan Trinidad hit 3-for-3 with four RBI to lead Faulkner. Evan Gilliam and Tuane Cope also each had three hits. Faulkner had 18 hits and 11 walks to set up 13 RBI opportunities.
Stillman (4-4, 0-3) is scheduled to travel to Conyers, Georgia to meet Paine College on Tuesday, Feb. 20 for an 11 a.m. CT doubleheader.
