TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Conference play began Friday, but Stillman College was unable to push past Faulkner University in a Southern States Athletic Conference double dip, falling 6-1 and 12-3.
Dylan Speakman and
Geoff Grier each hit 2-for-3, while
Samuel Fleming had two hits and an RBI on the day.
Matt Rivers drove in a pair of runs for the Tigers on a hit and a walk. The Tigers also had one hit apiece from
Kobe Lewis,
Lathan McLaughlin,
Michael Glover and
Troy Easterling.
Speakman and
Raul Polanco recorded the losses on the hill.
Christian Webb led Faulkner with a 4-for-8 day at the plate through the doubleheader, while Orlando Loduy also hit .500 (3-for-6). Both had one RBI. Wesley Estrella and Juan Trinidad also each had three hits. Trinidad's four RBI led the Eagles, including a solo home run to left field on the first pitch of Game 2. Jose Vargas also went yard, hitting a two-run homer in the first game.
Stillman (4-3, 0-2 SSAC) and Faulkner (6-2, 2-0 SSAC) will conclude their series Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m.
