Jackson Paces Tigers Past Loyola, 85-80

NEW ORLEANS - Jamar Jackson scored a Stillman College career-high 25 points Thursday to pace the Tigers to an 85-80 Southern States Athletic Conference win at Loyola University.

Stillman fought back from a nine-point hole early in the second half to regain its lead, 57-56, on a Justin Minter jumper. Jackson hit a 3-pointer with 13:26 left to cap a 9-0 Tiger run. Two minutes later, Stillman started another seven-point run to take a 70-60 lead. The Tigers led by six or more up until the final two minutes.

Loyola whittled the Tigers' lead down to three points, 81-78, with 17 seconds left, but Jackson hit four free throws in the final 15 seconds to secure the win.

Bailey Talley and Marcus Bates Jr each scored 15 points and Antonio Jones scored 12. Minter narrowly missed a double-double, scoring nine points to go with 10 assists. Brenden Lankford-Johnson also scored nine.

Both teams shot 50% from the floor throughout the game.

Alex Hammond led Loyola with 25 points, while Milan Mejia and Albert Braelee each scored 15 and Julian Baldwin had 14 points.

Stillman (14-7, 11-3) will carry a four-game win streak to Hattiesburg, Miss., on Saturday to take on William Carey University at 2 p.m.
