Stillman Falls to Freed-Hardeman

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Stillman College was toe-to-toe with undefeated Freed-Hardeman University with 10 minutes to play, but the Lions pulled away for a 77-61 victory Tuesday night in Birthright Alumni Hall. The win snapped a seven-game win streak for Stillman (7-2) as Freed moved to 11-0.

Trailing by 16 points at the end of the first quarter, Stillman out-scored Freed-Hardeman 22-13 in the second quarter to pull the game to five points, 39-34, at the half.

Stillman's momentum continued into the third quarter as seniors Hannah Boykin-William's 3-pointer and Farrah Pearson's basket opened the third quarter on a 5-0 run to tie the game, 39-39. Raena Suggs gave Stillman a brief 42-41 lead, but Rachel Satterly answered with a 3 and Freed-Hardeman didn't let go of its lead again.

Jaida Minter twice tied the score again at 53 and 55 to close the third quarter. Minter finished with 13 points to lead Stillman's offense, followed by Suggs' 11 points.

The Lions burst out to a 13-0 run to open the fourth quarter and pull away from Stillman, growing its lead to 68-55.

Satterly scored 18 points and had nine rebounds to lead FHU. Kaylee Odom finished with 15 points, Carissa Curtis had 11 points and Brooklyn Crouch had 10 points.

Stillman (7-2) will travel to Southeastern Baptist College on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m.
