HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - After an 0-4 start to the season, Stillman College men's basketball evened its record with its fourth-straight win Thursday, 59-55, at Oakwood University. The Tigers are now 3-0 in the HBCU Athletic Conference, leading the East Division.
Joshua Price evened the game, 11-11, with a 3-pointer and hit another to take the lead, 14-11. He went on to lead Stillman with 16 points. The Tigers maintained the lead through the first half for a 37-32 halftime lead.
Oakwood retook the lead, 42-41, with 14:09 to play in the game. The Ambassadors worked the lead up to seven points, 50-43. It wasn't until the final three minutes before Stillman clawed back on top.
Calvin Finch Jr.'s dunk put Stillman in front, 56-55, with 2:48 to play. He later added a free throw and grabbed two rebounds and had a blocked shot in the final two minutes to secure the win. He posted his third-straight double-double with 12 points and a season-high 16 rebounds. He had 12 defensive boards.
Tyler Martin sank two free throws with 10 seconds left to ice the game.
Stillman won the glass by 15 rebounds, 47-32, including 13 offensive rebounds.
Stillman (4-4, 3-0 HBCUAC) will take a two-week break before traveling to Laurel, Mississippi on Dec. 5 for a non-conference game at Southeastern Baptist College.
