MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Stillman College women's basketball spoiled Faulkner University's first Saturday home game of the season, beating the former conference rival, 63-57, in the Jimmy Faulkner Classic on Nov. 2. The win is Stillman's first this season after falling to William Carey University, 69-65, on Nov. 1.
Lelia Henderson recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds Saturday to pace the Tigers.
Jaida Minter scored 13 points and
Jamariah Turner had 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Stillman overcame a 17-13 deficit in the first quarter to take a 22-21 lead into the second quarter. The Tigers led the rest of the first half, leading 33-29 at the break. Faulkner tied the game, 42-42, late in the third quarter, but a
Danyjhia Williams free throw kept the Tigers in front entering the fourth quarter.
There were three lead changes to open the fourth quarter. Faulkner led by six, 54-48, with 6:31 to play. Stillman out-scored the Eagles 13-2 in the final four minutes of the game. Turner's second 3-pointer with 1:39 left gave Stillman 57-55 lead. While Faulkner evened the score it was the Eagles' last points of the game. Hannah Boykin-Williams created distance for Stillman.
Faulkner was led by Ruthie Smith's 20 points and 11 points from each Morgan Holland Dewitt and Sydney Stewart. Dewitt also had 10 rebounds.

Limaya Batimba scored 12 points and had eight rebounds in her Stillman debut, while
Jamariah Turner had 11 points.
Danyjhia Williams hit a 3-pointer with 4:34 left in the game to tie it, 58-58. Minter followed with a layup and 3-pointer to give Stillman a 63-60 lead with less than two minute left, but Leah Sutton pushed William Carey in front with a 3 and two free throws. Shaneal Corpuz' layup with 20 seconds left proved to be the winning basket before Rose Warren added a pair of free throws in the final second after a steal to preserve the Crusaders' win.
NEXT: Stillman (1-1) will travel to NCAA Division I foe Alabama State University for an exhibition on Wednesday, Nov. 6 in Montgomery, Alabama.
