Tigers Lose Non-Conference Tilt with Tuskegee

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Stillman College women's volleyball returned home to Birthright Alumni Hall Tuesday night, hosting Tuskegee University for the first time since they were SIAC foes in 2015. The Tigers evened the match in the second set, but lost the match, 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-13, 25-19).

Stillman jumped out to a 7-3 lead to start the match, but Tuskegee used an eight-point run to take the lead, 18-14. Stillman capitalized on a series of opponent errors to pull within a point, 22-21, but Tuskegee wrapped up the first set with the last four points. 

The blue and gold Tigers fought clawed back in the second set to take the lead with an Ava Cameron kill and block, 18-17. Tuskegee regained the lead, 22-20, but Erin Nelson served Stillman to a pair of aces as Stillman ended the set on a 5-0 run. 

Tuskegee opened the third set up 12-1 to take the third set and took a 16-8 lead in the fourth set.

Paige Eason had 10 kills to lead Stillman, while Cameron and Katlyn Lawson had six each. Kelis Conley and Erin Nelson eah had 13 assists, while Emily Powell had 13 digs and Eason added 10 digs for a double-double.

Lauren Canady led Tuskegee with 13 kills.

Stillman (5-11) will return to HBCU Athletic Conference action on Friday, Oct. 4 when it hosts HBCU East Division front runner Fisk University at 6 p.m.
