HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Stillman College third baseman
Samuel Fleming was named to the 2023 Southern States Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team, the conference announced Tuesday evening, May 2 from the SSAC Baseball Championships.
Fleming, a redshirt freshman transfer from Lenoir-Rhyne University, hit .304 for the Tigers this spring. He scored 24 runs and collected 19 RBIs. Six of his 31 hits were doubles, giving him 37 total bases on the season. He also stole five bases.
The Charlotte, North Carolina native is the third Stillman player to be named All-Freshman in the last two seasons, joining teammates
Mason Collins and
Griff Minor, who each received the honor in 2022.
Each SSAC team also receives a Champions of Character selection. This year's Champion of Character for Stillman is second baseman
Devin Kelly, who was also named the team MVP at Stillman's annual Student-Athlete Appreciation Day. Kelly, a sophomore from Pinson, Alabama, led the Tigers with a .359 batting average and had 34 runs and 18 RBIs.
Fourteen Stillman players received Barnes & Noble College All-Academic honors for being a varsity player with a minimum 24 credit hours at least a 3.25 GPA:
