Tiger Baseball Drops SSAC Series at Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Stillman College dropped its final game of a Southern States Athletic Conference baseball series at Faulkner University on Saturday, falling 14-4 in seven innings.

Bryant Rhooms drew a leadoff walk in the top of the second inning and scored on a TJ Davis double to answer a four-run Faulkner first inning, 4-1. However, Faulkner added five in the bottom of the third inning to break the game open, 9-1.

Stillman added three runs in the top of the fifth inning. Montgomery native Kelvin Reese was hit by a pitch to start the inning. A Bobby Woodard single and Devin Kelly walk worked the bases loaded. Sieas Elliott delivered a two-run single to right to score Reese and Woodard. Mason Collins followed with a sac fly to bring Kelly home.

Those were the only runs of the day for the Tigers, which left eight runners on base. Faulkner tacked on five more runs in the sixth inning to lead by 10.

Elliott led Stillman with two hits, while Woodard, Davis, Kobe Lewis and Samuel Fleming each had one hit.

Raul Polanco started on the hill for Stillman, recording three complete innings. Only three of his nine runs allowed were earned. He gave up four walks and seven hits. He struck out two.

Jaxen Forrester had the win for Faulkner, with one earned run, four total, off four hits and four walks. He had nine strikeouts.

Stillman (11-17, 1-11 SSAC) will return home this coming week to host No. 8 University of Mobile for a three-game series April 7-8.
