TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Stillman College was swept on Day 2 of its Southern States Athletic Conference series against No. 20 William Carey University, falling 29-2 and 18-3.
The Tigers' two runs in the first game scored on a Lewis RBI single in the third inning and Minor RBI single in the fifth inning. Minor and Lewis each hit 2-for-3 in the game.
In the second game, WCU took an 11-0 lead. Collins' double in the first inning was the only Tigers' hit until the bottom of the seventh when Stillman fought back to score three runs. After Stillman drew walks to load the bases, TJ Davis scored on a wild pitch, and then Minor and Collins each singled in runs to make it 11-3. The Crusaders scored seven in the eighth though to enact the run rule.
Collins (2-3) and Minor (2-2) were charged with the losses on the mound.
Stillman (10-13, 1-8 SSAC) will travel to Holley Springs, Mississippi on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader at Rust College at noon. SSAC play will resume next weekend at Faulkner University.
