MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Stillman College sits in fourth place in the Southern States Athletic Conference standings after a 74-56 road loss at No. 17 Faulkner University on Tuesday night.
The Tigers led for most of the first 13 minutes of action, but Faulkner pushed ahead for an eight-point lead, 31-23, with 2:03 left in the first half. Marcus Bates Jr,
Tomias Brand and
Brenden Lankford-Johnson helped close the gap, 31-30, in the last minute of the half before Eagles' leading scorer CJ Hines made it a 33-30 game at the half.
Faulkner's lead grew as high as 18 points, 55-37, in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
Jamar Jackson was the only Tiger to score in double digits with 13 points.
Tomias Brand was second in scoring for Stillman with eight points, while
Jordan Bell and
Derrick Finklea each scored seven.
Bailey Talley led Stillman on the glass with eight rebounds and two blocked shots.
Hines scored 25 points and added six rebounds and five assists. Jonathan Garcia followed with 19 points, while Derek Murphy added 10 points. The Eagles' leading rebounder was Isaiah Brooks with 14.
Stillman (15-12, 11-8 SSAC) will close its regular season Saturday, Feb. 18 when it hosts Talladega College for Senior Day and Homecoming. Tip time is 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 and sold in advance only online.
