TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Stillman College women's basketball scored more than 100 points for the first time since 2004 with a 101-34 victory over Southeastern Baptist College on Monday night, Dec. 5, in Birthright Alumni Hall.
Stillman's 67-point margin of victory is the highest since Stillman recorded a 71-point win in November 1998. It is the second 60-plus margin over SBC this season, completing a season sweep of the Chargers after a 62-point win in Mississippi on Nov. 7. That was the largest scoring margin since the Tigers' 102-40 win over Oakwood University in February 2004, also the last time a Stillman women's team scored more than 100.
A 12-0 run opened the game for Stillman, which led 20-15 in the first quarter. The Tigers held the Chargers to 10% shooting in the opening 10 minutes. Stillman produced 40 points in the second quarter alone to lead 60-19 at the half.
Aeraeonna Manuel made her Stillman women's basketball debut in the second quarter, scoring on her first possession for the Tigers' 30th point of the game. She also pushed Stillman past 90 points in the fourth quarter to make it the highest-scoring game in
Alico Dunk's era as head coach. The Tigers kept scoring, until
Jordine Moody hit a 3 to break the century mark with 4:03 left in the game.
Alexandria Haymon led the Tigers with 20 points, including four 3-pointers.
Jamesha King had 14 points and
Kelcie Smith scored 10. Ten players scored seven or more points.
Korryn Millerton had nine points and six rebounds off the bench, while
Laneja Warner,
Amaria Strong and Manuel scored eight apiece.
Imani Wimbish-Gay,
Desiree Tyner and Moody each had seven points.
Ke'Asia McKinney led all players with 11 rebounds.
Southeastern Baptist was led with 11 points by Miah Hall.
Stillman shot 46.4% for the game, while holding SBC to 21.2% shooting.
The performance was Dunk's first 100-point game as Stillman's head coach and the second of his career. His last was a 102-29 win for Elizabeth City University in November 2012 over Mid-Atlantic Christian.
Stillman (8-2, 0-2 SSAC) will remain home this week for a non-conference game Thursday, Dec. 8 against Rust College at 5:30 p.m. Both teams are receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches' Poll.
