HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Stillman College hit the road to Mississippi for a Southern States Athletic Conference game Saturday at William Carey University, but fell 61-43.
A late jumper by Rebekah Engle gave William Carey a 13-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. While
Alexandria Haymon answered with a 3 to open the second quarter, the Crusaders scored six straight to help create some separation before the half. WCU led 30-22 at the intermission. While the Tigers hung with WCU in the third quarter, Stillman could not overcome its deficit.
Both teams shot less than 20% in the fourth quarter. Stillman shot 22.2% for the game and only 2-of-15 from 3-point range.
Engle posted a double-double for William Carey with 15 points and 13 rebounds. McKinley Seal scored 18 and had six assists to lead WCU.
Stillman (8-4, 0-3 SSAC) will travel to Blue Mountain College on Monday for a 5:30 p.m. SSAC game.
