In her first year as Sports Information Director, Joy Hano leads the department’s social media strategy and day-to-day content across all athletics platforms, shaping the voice and visual identity of each varsity program. She also manages the athletics website, oversees statistical coverage and record keeping, and coordinates with coaches and administrators on communications, game coverage, and promotional initiatives.
Before stepping into this role, Hano served as Lead Creative in the Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics Sports Information Department. In that position, she designed digital and print projects, created promotional graphics to support athletics campaigns, produced platform native social content across Instagram, Facebook, and X, and developed video and photo assets for media days, live events, and department wide initiatives. She also collaborated closely with coaches, student athletes, and administrators to align creative work with program objectives and university branding.
A former NCAA track and field student athlete at Cal Poly Humboldt, Hano was the school record holder in the 100 meter hurdles and the 2024 CCAA champion in the 100 meter hurdles. She earned her B.A. in Psychology, cum laude, and brings an athlete centered, story driven perspective to her work in sports information.
