David Branham returned to Stillman in September 2017 to join Terrance Whittle's coaching staff as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. He was hired as Stillman College's intramural sports director in 2019.
Prior to Stillman, Branham served as assistant to Coach Blake Lewis at Lawson State Community College for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. The Cougars posted a 29-22 record in 2016, including the first two state tournament games victories in program history, and finished second in the state in total triples (15) and fifth in total doubles (83). Lawson State (23-29) led the ACCC in triples (18) and was second in stolen bases (114). Two players went on to play NCAA DI from a two-year class that was the winningest class in program history.
Branham's first stint at Stillman College was as an assistant coach under Donny Crawford in 2014 and 2015, winning the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division twice. Stillman's 2014 team had a .307 team batting average and ranked 35th in NCAA DII for runs scored per game (6.7) en route to a 30-win season, SIAC Tournament championship and NCAA DII Regional appearance. The Tigers finished runner-up in the SIAC Tournament in 2015.
In 2010, Branham served as a varsity assistant and head JV coach at Tuscaloosa County High School, leading the JV team to a 27-5 season, Branham also coached American Legion Post 29 in 2010-2011 and the Hoptown Hoppers wooden bat Ohio Valley League in Hopkinsville, Kentucky in the summers of 2012 and 2013, winning the OVL regular season both years and claiming the OVL tournament title in 2012. The Hoppers were runner-up in 2013.Â
In the spring of 2013, served as an assistant coach to Stillman alum Grayson Crawford at Christian County High School in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, winning the Region 2 championship.
Branham also served as head assistant to the state runner-up Tuscaloosa Thunder Dixie Majors in 2014 and 2015.
Through his time as a high school and college coach, he has coached five MLB draft picks.
A Tuscaloosa native, Branham attended the University of West Alabama from 2006-2010.He completed his bachelor's degree in general studies and physical education at Stillman in 2019. He and his Wife, Alison, have two sons, Maddox and Landon.
