TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Stillman College baseball team erupted after an early deficit to defeat Voorhees University, 12-5, on Saturday in the final weekend HBCU Athletic Conference contest at Tiger Field this season, and completed the series sweep on senior day.
Voorhees struck first with a two-run double in the third, but Stillman answered immediately with a five-run response to take control.
Sincere Ford sparked the rally, scoring on
Kameran Belser's RBI single before Belser came home on
Robert Gage's groundout to tie the game.
Davion Wilkins then crossed the plate on an error to give Stillman the lead, and
John Roland followed by scoring on
Javian Rives' RBI single to cap the inning and push the Tigers ahead 4-2.
Voorhees trimmed the deficit in the fourth, but Stillman responded again as Ford scored on Wilkins' RBI single to make it 5-3.
The Tigers continued to build separation in the fifth through situational hitting. Roland scored on a sacrifice fly by
Daniel Salter, and
Jonathan Phillips later came home on a sacrifice fly from Ford to extend the lead to 7-3.
Stillman added to the advantage in the sixth with aggressive baserunning. Wilkins stole third and scored on an error, and Gage later crossed the plate on a wild pitch to make it 9-3.
Voorhees added a run in the seventh, but Stillman answered in the bottom half as Belser scored on another RBI single from Wilkins.
The Tigers put the game away in the eighth when Ford delivered a two-run triple, scoring
Javian Rives and Phillips to stretch the lead to 12-4.
Voorhees added a late run in the ninth, but the outcome was already decided.
Ford led the offense with three hits and three RBIs, while Wilkins added two hits, two RBIs, and three stolen bases. Belser and Phillips each scored twice as Stillman's lineup produced throughout.
On the bases, the Tigers were relentless, recording multiple stolen bases from Wilkins, Gage, Ford, and Belser while consistently advancing on errors and wild pitches.
On the mound,
Zack Munger earned the win, allowing three runs, two earned, over six innings while striking out eight.
Deuntre Dunklin and
Bobby Woodard combined to close out the final three innings.
Stillman combined timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and strong pitching to take control after the early deficit and pull away late.

Stillman will travel to Talladega on Friday and Saturday for its final HBCUAC series. Both days will begin at noon. The three-game series will also include the continuation of the March 6 game suspended in the 7th inning, tied 9-9.
