Tuscaloosa, AL —
December 11, 2025 — Stillman College proudly announces the launch of Women's Flag Football, an exciting new addition to its athletics program that will begin competition in Spring 2027. This historic expansion of Stillman Athletics reflects the College's commitment to increasing opportunities for women student-athletes, strengthening enrollment, and embracing emerging sports that enhance the student experience and campus life.
Women's flag football is rapidly becoming one of the nation's fastest-growing collegiate sports, particularly across Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and NAIA institutions. By adding the sport, Stillman College joins a national movement that is reshaping the future of women's athletics through access, innovation, and equity.
"Women's Flag Football represents an exciting opportunity for Stillman College to expand pathways for leadership, achievement, and personal growth," said Stillman College President Dr. Yolanda W. Page. "We are intentional about creating programs that elevate opportunity and empower our students. This new sport is more than an athletic offering—it is an investment in the future of Stillman and in the young women who will lead and inspire future generations of Tigers."
The Women's Flag Football program will begin recruiting student-athletes in 2026 with an initial roster of 20–25 women. The program will compete against a growing slate of colleges and universities offering the sport, creating new rivalries and new traditions for Stillman alumni, students, and supporters to celebrate.
"Women's flag football is a natural fit for Stillman," said Director of Athletics Terrance Whittle. "It reflects our culture, our competitive spirit, and our strategic vision for athletics. We will build a program that inspires and empowers young women while elevating the brand and profile of Stillman College."
