ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Lady Tigers of Stillman College defeated the Lady Panthers of Clark Atlanta University, 5-3, to win its second consecutive SIAC Women's Tennis title. Stillman's Litia Godinet was named the women's tournament MVP, while Lady Tigers head coach, William Riley, earned Most Outstanding Coach honors.
In singles play, the Lady Tigers were led by Litia Godinet, the two-time SIAC Women's Player of the Year (2013-14), who defeated Clark Atlanta's Vanessa Jean-Baptiste, 6-0, 6-1. Godinet also posted a victory in doubles competition, teaming with Carolina Barabas to defeat the Lady Panthers team of Vonnick Boyogueno and Brionne Bachus, 8-4.
The Lady Tigers won three of the five singles matches played this afternoon, as Nair Tolomeo (def. Vonnick Boyogueno - 6-2, 6-7, 6-4) and Veronika Kalugina (def. Ivory Conley - 4-6, 6-2, 6-2) each earned victories.
In doubles play, the Lady Tigers team of Tolomeo and Angela Corredor defeated the Lady Panthers duo of Asia Boyd and Conley, 8-3. Clark Atlanta's Tori Pradier, the 2014 SIAC Freshman of the Year, teamed with Avern Gumbs to corral the Lady Panthers only doubles victory. The team of Pradier and Gumbs defeated Stillman's team of Rosana Medeiros and Kalugina, 8-4.
The Lady Tigers record now stands at 31-4, including a current winning streak of 17 consecutive matches.
